Baby Billy Ray Goetz

You know when your little boy is called a girl by a stranger in WalMart, even while dressed head-to-toe in blue, it might be getting close to hair cut time. In our defence, we did try once, but it just didn't work out! Now, I've made it into a bit of a family joke. Just the thought of Jonathan getting off the plane from Afghanistan in September and seeing his little "Achy-Breaky" nephew makes me giggle . . . . He's going to be so different as it is - the last time Jonathan saw him was in February, and he was barely talking. Now, he is a wild-and-crazy, full-fledged toddler, and the hair might just be too much to add into the equation! :)

I started a poll on our brand new blog: should we cut his hair, just to be safe, before September, or just let the mullet continue along it's path to happiness? Mike and Erin Correia suggested we shave some lines in the sides, reminicient of the 80's Brian "Boz" hairstyle. I'm not sure we're going to go that far, but let us know your thoughts: Cut it before or after Jonathan sees it???

Jared's Birthday

Jared turned 9 on the 25th of July - I cannot believe it, even as I type it! He had 2 birthday parties - kinda like usual - one with his friends, and one with the family.
The friend party had a first this year: bad weather! That didn't stop about 30 kids from diving into Lake Roosevelt and taking a fun swim! We went to the beaches of Spring Canyon Park again this year, played in the water, on the sand, on the playground equipment, and even enjoyed a "Jedi Training Academy" by Master Jedi Kameron!
His actual birthday was spent in Othello with Grammy & Papa, Grandma Nancy & Grandpa Jerry, Uncle Scott & Karli & the Higleys! The boys swam to their hearts content, ate Jared's favorite meal for lunch (steak!), and took a little time to enjoy the volcano cake. Since the photo isn't that clear, that's a Lego Obi Wan-Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker battling on top of the volcano, with dry ice "steam" coming out of the top. After he blew out the candles, the birthday boy knocked Anakin into the volcano, speeding his transition to Darth Vader!!
I have to laugh - one of the favorite gifts he received this year is a dvd set of Season 2 of . . . Gilligan's Island!! He is loving watching these shows - I hear the big boys laughing out loud harder than I have in a long time. Thank you Sieg family - you guys are fantastic!! What a great idea - you just can' t beat the wholesomeness of the older shows. Maybe I need to keep my eyes out for The Waltons . . .

The Maiden Voyage into Blogs . . .

Welcome to our blog - I think! I've seen such cute family blog sites, where all the family updates and pictures are located in one place, and thought, "hmm, maybe I'll give it a try?!?!" Here goes nothing . . .
